The Biggest Loser - Season 7

This year I became addicted to The Biggest Loser... my fave team was the father/son team of Ron & Mike... Ron (the dad & the sickest contestant) has been obese his whole life and hadn't weighed under 300 pounds since he was a teen. Mike is 18 (the youngest contestant) and was close to 400 pounds, well on his way to following his father's health patterns.
BEFORE:

Mike After: (what a cute kid)
Ron After: (He lost over 200 pounds!)
So, if they can lose 200 pounds then I certainly can lose 5 or 10, right???? It just takes discipline and hard work...
Until next time....

No more training wheels...

So... we looked outside the other day & little miss 'T' was riding Trav's old bike (which has no training wheels) right down the driveway... I couldn't believe it! I grabbed the camera and off I went... Man, they grow too fast!

Words to live by...

An Angel says, 'Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice.'
1. Pray

2. Go to bed on time.

3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.

4. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.

5. Delegate tasks to capable others.

6. Simplify and un-clutter your life.

7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)

8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.

9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time;don't lump the hard things all together.

10. Take one day at a time.

1 1. Separate worries from concerns . If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety . If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it.

12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.

13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.

14. K.M.S. (KeepMouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.

15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.

16. Carry an inspirational book and/or the Bible with you to read while waiting in line.

17. Get enough rest.

18. Eat right.

19 Get organized so everything has its place.

20. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life.

2 1. Write down thoughts and inspirations.

22. Every day, find time to be alone.

23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don't wait until it's time to go to bed to try and pray.

24. Make friends with Godly people.

25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.

26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good 'Thank you Jesus .'

27. Laugh.

28. Laugh some more!

29. Take your work> seriously, but not yourself at all.

30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).

3 1. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).

32. Sit on your ego.

33 Talk less; listen more.

34. Slow down.

35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe.

36 Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before.

Beach Cleanup

Today I took the kids and went to Jenness Beach in Rye, NH for a beach clean-up. There is an organization based out of Portsmouth called the Blue Ocean Society (http://www.blueoceansociety.org/) which gets funding to do a cleanup once a month. Not only was it an opportunity to get extra credit for my Earth Science class, but it was also an opportunity to help clean up the environment and teach my kids a few things...

It was absolutely amazing how much dog crap was out there... it was so gross! I even found one bag full of it... the owner picked it all up, but decided to leave the bag on the beach. It was quite nasty. People also decide to use the beach as their ashtray and dump all their cigarette butts onto the ground. It's really sad...

We found a washed up, decapitated, dead seal... it looked like it had been dead for a while, but finally washed up with the high tide at some point.

Here are some shots from our day... it was a great day for it... the temps were in the high 50s... woohoo! Funny how living in Maine makes us happy for these "warm" days :)

Below is the amount of trash gathered in 1 hour!

He's growing up...

So, Dennis took the boy & my nephew skiing on Friday... below is a cell phone pic (hence, the quality) that my hubby took just before Trav went down his 1st black diamond! Eeek... when I heard about this, my heart skipped a few beats. The thought of my baby skiing down a steep trail scares me to death! At the same time, it makes me proud to be his mother... he's such a great kid, and everything he does he tries to perfect...

Going Green -

Ok... so I'm doing a research paper on Global Warming. It is primarily on how we as humans have affected Earth and what we need to do to save it. Wow! What an eye opener! I never would have thought that I'd learn so much, and quite honestly, it scares me. This is the planet that my kids and future grandkids will be living in long after I'm gone. I really hope that we can all do our part in preserving it. Each day the glaciers are melting significantly... it's crazy.So... I've actually started to recycle paper, plastics, etc... not just my cans and bottles. I've also ordered a compost bin so that I can eliminate some of my household waste (not to mention it will help fertilize my sad, little garden). I find that I unplug items that I do not need to leave plugged in 24/7. I hope I can teach my children the importance of recycling. Apparently, I'm becoming a "hippie" (according to my sister), but I don't look at it that way. I feel that my mind has been opened to bigger things and important issues that affect each and every one of us...Who would have thought that I would learn so much about such different things when my intent was to learn about Accounting. With that said... have a great day!
